Description

At SENSEI we believe the speciality shears we make allow stylists to build an efficiency toolkit? We think a stylist will be more efficient when they are using a collection of tools rather than trying to do everything with one scissor. We also know from feedback from customers, that our seamless texture tools not only save time, they improve the cutting results for even the best stylists. By making these collections with the same handle design, once you determine if you want a rotating thumb or a fixed thumb, we offer every tool you need with the same handle. This makes switching between multiple shears within a haircut easy and fun to do.

For cutting in hand, all you need is a shorter shear like a 5.5 inch. You don’t need a blade that can pass the length of your fingers. Most stylists start with a shear like a 5.5” so they are used to that. We encourage them however to explore the other options that can take their work to the next level.

Options like getting a longer blade for when you are not holding the hair with your fingers. Longer blades can even help when you cut over the top of your fingers. Shear over comb works better and requires fewer panels when you are using a longer blade. Most barbers use 6.5 or 7 inch scissors for this reason. When you are cutting on the skin, longer blades let you do it with less connections are you create an outline. Longer blades get you away from the clients face when cutting the fringe or face framing.

To remove cutting lines and weight lines, you need a blending shear like the Swivl 23 Tooth Seamless Blender. To remove weight within a cut without creating any volume or visible texture you need a blending shear. SENSEI Seamless Blending Shears™ are the worlds best by far. They never tug or pull at the clients hair when you comb out with the blades closed. They never leave any lines or cutting marks like other thinners do. That means you don’t waste time fixing problems they create. You just get great results with no hassle. You can cut with these with your eyes closed and still get good results.

SENSEI Soft Slide™ technology also drives our texture shears. In this case the result is to make them mimic the results of point cutting. The 14 tooth, 10 Tooth and 3D Texture™ shears all create the equivalent of different types of point cutting. In other words, you get negative space or seperation within the section, without seeing the origin of the separation. That is the goal of the best point cutting.

Use the 14 Tooth or 3D Texture shear on normal to fine hair density. If you’re working on a client with thicker coarser hair, use the 10 tooth. You can also cut the length or do the whole haircut with the 10 tooth by cutting each section just 2 or 3 times to cut all the length and leave a soft natural looking feathered edge.

Our SENSEI Dry Slide cut shears are the last piece of the texture puzzle. They allow you to finish every cut dry, by sculpting in the last texture and movement without fear of damaging the hair by dry slide cutting. This is possible because unlike precision shears, these shears don’t grip the cuticle. This means you will have more control for slide and motion cutting techniques both wet and dry. Cutting the hair dry, in the way it is worn is growing in popularity because it saves so much time and gives you more control over the finished look.

To add one more option, we have included our amazing new Dry Evolution Precision DryCut shears. These give you a higher level of precision in Dry hair. You can include one of these in your toolkit for just the difference in price vs the comparable Swivl shear. These are VG10 Cobalt Molybdenum Vanadium alloy shears with ball bearings and they will be the flagship shear in your toolkit.

Approaching cutting hair with a collection of tools that are each ideal for creating different aspects of a haircut, makes way more sense then trying to force a shear that is made for one thing, to do everything. The other benefit is by spreading the work you do over a variety of tools, all of them last longer. You won’t need to sharpen your scissors nearly as often because you are doing everything with one shear. The savings in sharpening as well as the time you save will make your toolkit pay for itself over time.
